Eco Pigs

The packaging used in Piggie Parcels® is very important to us. We were determined not to add to the pile of non-recyclable plastic being sent to landfill. We noticed that so many other suppliers of forage items are still using non-recyclable/compostable plastics.

When you order from Piggie Parcels you can be assured the environment has been considered. All the packaging is in some form environmentally friendly, it is either recycled, recyclable, biodegradable or compostable.

No plastic packing tape allowed here! The tape used is Recyclable, Biodegradable & Compostable.

Any leaflets or order cards are printed on recycled paper and you can recycle them again too.

Our labels are Biodegradable labels, made from white, wood-free, elemental chlorine free, non-coated paper with a permanent acrylic adhesive which conforms to the standard EN13432. As the labels are not coated, they have a matt finish to keep with environmentally friendly products AND they are printed in food safe inks. The label will break down 100% with no nasty left-overs or residual effects.

Our boxes are accredited by FSC® certified for environmental sustainability. FSC® is the only forest certification scheme endorsed by the major environment charities including WWF, Greenpeace and the Woodland Trust.

The bags are food grade, 100% natural biodegradable cellulose bags, made in the UK. It’s been accredited biodegradable & compostable to ‘BS EN 13432’ and ‘OK Compost’. They are also approved for Marine biodegradation ASTM D6691-09 and tested to ensure that once composted there are no adverse effects on the plant growth. WOW! These are NOT oxi-degradable plastic which is much cheaper but has received a lot of discussion in the press on how it breaks down in the oceans….

We are constantly reviewing our packaging to ensure we are as environmentally friendly as possible, whilst still providing excellent quality products with a long shelf life.
